Learning objectives
The module is inserted in the teaching of Clinical Pathology Perioperative Medicine.
It aims to acquaint the student with the understanding and meaning of laboratory tests for the purpose of major diseases. In particular, being inserted in the Teaching of Perioperative Medicine, aims to quickly identify diseases that can emerge from their assessment and that can interfere with the performance and the result of the intervention.
The student at the end of the course, will be able to use the acquired knowledge in order to identify the disease and the patient's problems in general and in particular of the surgical patient.
They must also be able, in the light of the objective problems of the patient, to draw up a care plan appropriate to its specific condition and to emerging issues.

Knowledge of the Degree Course Level I
Course unit content
In laboratory medicine, in recent years, there has been an unprecedented development of new diagnostic methods. The module in question aims to bring to the attention of the student the most important applications of these new diagnostic tests, particularly biotechnological methods used in Clinical Pathology.

Teaching methods
Lectures and interactive teaching. There are also exercises and visits to laboratories to enable the student to not only attend, but also to apply the techniques learned in theory.
Assessment methods and criteria
n the final assessment, the student will demonstrate knowledge and skills of critical evaluation of the main tests carried out in the Laboratory of Clinical Pathology.
There are checks in the pipeline without vote, in order to assess the need for further study.
Type of exam: written and oral.
