Integrated course unit module: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF BIOMOLECULES

Learning objectives

Considering the significant development and relevance of the structural proteomics, this course is designed to give students a basic knowledge of the principles and practise of the most important methods to determine the structure, the conformational stability and dynamics of proteins in solution.

Prerequisites

- - -

Course unit content

Forces that determine biomolecular structure.
Structure and dynamics of proteins and nucleic acids.
Protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions.
Membrane proteins: G-protein coupled receptors.
Spectroscopic methods to determine the structural features, the conformational stability and dynamics of biomolecules in solution: an outline of circular dichroism and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies.
