Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam (1 hour and 30 minutes).
The knowledge and understanding will be assessed with multiple choice questions (12 points) or exercises (9 points), which ask a short answer that is
specifically aimed at verifying the knowledge of the concepts and principles discussed in the course.
The communication skills, the ability to apply the acquired knowledge through appropriate arguments and reflections and the autonomy of judgment will be assessed with one open question (9 points), structured on several points which require the articulation of a discourse which integrates different notions acquired during the course in a coherent and logical way.
Learning skills will be assessed on the basis of an assessment across the various answers to the different questions of the exam.

It is also possible, for students attending the course, to take the written test during a pretest (before the end of the course, usually the last week of class). The pretest will be agreed upon at the beginning of the course and will have the same structure as the official exams. It is mandatory to register for the pretest; a special registration procedure will be opened for registration on the course on Esse3. Students will be notified in the classroom and by email of the opening of registration and the deadline by which to register.

Optional work in groups realized during the course can add up to 3 points to the final evaluation.
