Management of the surgical patient: management of the central and peripheral venous catheter and of infusion therapies. Pain management, drainage, SNG management. Surgical wound management.

Prerequisites

Attendance at "surgical clinic" and "perioperative medicine" lessons

Teaching methods

small group workshops. Briefing and presentation of the assistance case, simulation on a dummy of the case and execution of procedures highlighted in the case itself, debriefing.

Assessment methods and criteria

Practical test on a manikin where the student must replicate a procedure observed in the classroom and answer questions relating to assistance to the surgical patient.
