Learning objectives

Learn the basic notions of neurophysiology and clinical neurology to allow a more complete overview of psychological and behavioral disorders.

Course unit content

Headaches (migraines, cluster headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, post-herpetic pain) Epilepsies and status epilepticus (causes and therapies). Demyelinating diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases. Parkinson's disease and parkinsonisms. Cranial nerves and related pathologies. Acute cerebral vascular disease. (stroke): etiology, risk factors, and specific treatments. Pathologies of the first and second motor neuron (pyramidal syndrome). CSF. Pathologies of the neuromuscular plate and of the peripheral nerve. Elements of neurotraumatology. Fundamentals of sleep medicine. Cognitive functions, altered state of consciousness, mild cognitive impairment, dementia.
