Learning objectives
to give the student the basic knowledge and understanding of the major (uncommon, but severe) and common psychiatric disorders and basic psychiatric therapeutic strategies and tools.The course has also the objective to provide the students with basic judging on psychiatric patient, with tools for a correct communication on psychiatric issues.

Course unit content
Mental status examination: delusion, hallucination, mood. Psychotic disorders: schizophrenia and paranoia. Affective disorders: bipolar and unipolar. Anxiety disorders: panic, generalized anxiety, social phobia, post-traumatic, obsessive-compulsive. Eating disorders: anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Personality disorder: borderline. Therapeutic relationship and psychoeducation. Milieu therapy. Clinical psychopharmacology: antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, benzodiazepines.

Teaching methods
Lessons with slides and videos and discussion with students. The means by which the lessons will be held might be changed, based on the dispositions regarding the Sars-Cov2 virus pandemia.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam on the whole program in one single session with other sections of clinical medicine integrated course. The knowledge and understanding of the subjects included in the program, reasoning capacity on the problems of psychiatric patients, the acquisition of a correct terminology. Final score results from academic board consultation, based on the grading obtained in each course section.
