Learning objectives
The course aims to allow the student to know and to understand the principles that govern the interactions of drugs with the body, the principles of general toxicology, the adverse reactions of drugs and their evaluation, the fundamental aspects associated with the use of some drugs of more specific interest, with particular reference to some of the most commonly used drugs in motor and sports environments.
Prerequisites
There are not prerequisites. However, the following exams are highly recommended:

-Physiology
Course unit content
The first part of the course concerns principles that govern the interactions of drugs with the body, both in terms of pharmacokinetics (absorption, metabolism, distribution and elimination) and pharmacodynamics (mechanism of action). The second part is addressed to discussion of the fundamental notions concerning the principles of general toxicology. The third part deals with the knowledge of the fundamental aspects associated with the use of some drugs, with particular reference to some of the most commonly used drugs in motor and sports environments.

Classroom lectures

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination.
It will be evaluated the knowledge and the understanding of the topics discussed in the course, by administering a test consisting of 13 multiple choice questions (only one answer is correct) and an open question.
