THE COURSE IN BRIEF

The study course, which is part of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, aims to train graduates who can work in the field of human health, fitness and sport, using skills and expertise from the university and sports world, also as a result of agreements entered into with the CUS Parma and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) of the Emilia Romagna region, the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN), and the Italian Union of Sport for All (UISP), the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) of the Emilia Romagna region, the Municipality of Parma, and the Parma Educational Alliance GIOCAMPUS.
The duration of the degree course is three years with the acquisition of 180 university training credits (ECTS credits), divided into 60 ECTS credits per year, comprising basic training activities, characterising training activities, related and supplementary activities, activities of the student's choice and internship training activities.
The internship activity is compulsory and must be carried out under the supervision of a company tutor at facilities outside the university such as schools (all levels throughout Italy), sports associations affiliated with CONI, UISP, FIN, CIP, the CUS of Parma and the Municipality of Parma. The tutor, who is responsible for the internship, will compile an assessment of the activity carried out by the student. The internship is aimed at learning the fundamental aspects of specific motor and sports disciplines for subjects of different ages and genders, and at promoting the graduate's faster integration into the productive fabric, not only locally.
Enrolment does not involve a selection test and there are no barriers to career progression. Prizes (bonus points on the calculation of the degree grade) are provided for students who 1) accrue ECTS credits by taking courses at foreign universities, or undertake internships at foreign facilities; 2) demonstrate rapid career progression (passing examinations worth at least 40 ECTS credits by the end of the first academic year); 3) graduate within three years.
