Integrated course unit module: PSYCHOLOGY APPLIED TO SOCIAL DYNAMICS AND LABOUR

Learning objectives

The module of Psychology applied to the working dynamics fits in the Teaching of Psychology applied to group dynamics and social issues.
It aims to raise awareness and understanding of the student that the relational dynamics that underlie the work of a group are related to group processes that have been studied and identified in the literature and are mappable and predictable in relation to contextual factors (type of organization, mission, roles, leadership, climate, communication styles, etc..). It also aims to acquire management skills of the working groups and competences, to identify and manage the emergence of situations of occupational stress.
At the end of the course the student should be able to use the acquired knowledge in order to improve self-efficacy and collective efficacy in their work group and to contribute to organizational well-being.

Course unit content

The lecture series provides basic knowledge about the study of the social psychology of work and organizations. The literature data are presented as a reference to be used in order to better understand each processes and the dynamics of their work context.
From the contextual factors and climate, are developed, also at the legislative level, the issues of organizational well-being and prevention of work-related stress, as well as burn-out, as opposed to work-engagement.

Teaching methods

Lectures using slides and discussion in the classroom with the students, who, in an interactive dimension are urged to bring their contribution on the topics covered. They also carried out some exercises aimed at the development of relational skills fundamental to the professional (empathic listening, emotional control, conflict management)

Assessment methods and criteria

The learning and the degree of preparation is checked by written exam, with open-ended answers to questions regarding the arguments put forward and discussed during the lessons. The student must demonstrate that they have acquired theoretical knowledge and know how to use it for the management of a working group and for the analysis of environmental and relational situations of distress aimed at finding strategies for improvement.
The examination shall be deemed passed if the student has responded extensively to 70% of questions. The evaluation will take into account most of the student's ability to answer questions in such a way as not to limit the appearance factual knowledge but, on the contrary, by showing how to relate what they learn to their own professional context.
The final evaluation will be formulated based on the total of marks of the Teaching to which this module belongs.
