Learning objectives

The students should reach an upper-intermediate (B2) level.
The course intends to provide the students with the necessary tools for the comprehension and the analysis of journalistic writing in English, with a focus on international politics, and a careful study of the themes and languages used by journalism, and by American political journalism in particular, and the production of texts in English through which they can prove their ability of producing a critical synthesis of the topics discussed in class.

Teaching methods

Each week, we will discuss in class newspaper articles and essays, and we will also watch documentaries and movies on journalism.

Assessment methods and criteria

In the final exam the students will need to prove a B2 level, through a reading comprehension of a newspaper article and the discussion of an article, of an essay and of a movie, chosen by the student from the reading list.
