The training activity is addressed to little groups of students. The objective of the training activity is to enable the acquisition of knowledge and understanding about the laboratory procedures for the diagnosis of human immunodeficiency virus infection.

Illustration of the main laboratory procedures for the diagnosis of human immunodeficiency virus infection: enzyme immunoassay for the detection of antibodies to HIV-1/2, immunoblotting assay for the detection of antibodies to HIV-1/2, enzyme immunoassay for the detection of HIV-1 p24 antigen, assay for the quantitative determination of RNA of HIV-1, assay for the determination of drug-resistance of HIV-1.

Learning outcomes will be verified through a written examination. Questions on the topics relating to the training activity will be used to verify the student's knowledge and understanding in the field.
