Integrated course unit module: HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY AND CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Learning objectives

This teaching aims to make the student acquire the main theoretical notions, relating to analysis techniques, considered indispensable to facilitate the understanding and acquisition of professional skills which he will experience during the first internship in a laboratory of clinical biochemistry analysis.
Have passed the examination of basic biomedical laboratory techniques.

Prerequisites

Having attended all the hours of the first-year seminar activity related to pre-analysis (first semester)

Course unit content

This teaching module involves learning the main basic techniques used in clinical pathology laboratories, incorporating concepts of pre-analytical variability and all the main analytical techniques of clinical chemistry based on absorption, emission and scattering of light

Full programme

Learning theoretical skills related to the understanding and subsequent application of the main analytical techniques used in clinical pathology laboratories (review of techniques based on light absorption, study of emission and dispersion techniques, including: spectrophotometric chromatographic, fluorimetric, turbidimetric, nephelometric, electrophoretic and immunochemical techniques ecc).

Teaching methods

The teaching methodology used is participative, with lectures and classroom discussion aimed at inducing reflection skills in the student.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral examination in which the student will be asked questions relating to the topics covered during the lessons, aimed at verifying the degree of understanding of the concepts, the use of correct terminology and the ability to reflect and reason acquired
