System analysis applied to internal combustion engines and fluid power systems

Full programme

Measurements and systems of units. Time varying quantities, quasy steady and dynamic variables. Measuring forces, torque, angular velocity, power, pressure, temperature, volumes, density. Speed and flow rate measurements in fluids. Heating value and chemical species concentration, steam quality measurements.
Testing internal combustion engines: test cells, instruments and procedures. Testing turbomachines. Similarity and the use of models in design development and assesment. Fundamentals of wind tunnels- Fundamentals of road testing of vehicles. Acceptance test of pumps, fans, boilers, steam power plants. Test of positive displacement pumps.
