Integrated course unit module: RADIOLOGY UNIT EQUIPMENT

Learning objectives

- Know and understand the basic of diagnostic imaging and application fields of radiology
- Know and understand the multidisciplinary nature of Radiographer
- Know the formation of radiological image and diagnostic equipment to ionizing radiation
- Know types and execution of conventional projections
- Know the equipment in interventional radiology and radiological imaging performed in fluoroscopy and fluorography, including breast section
- Know the basic of a surgical field, the role of the Radiographer and the other figures, and potential procedures performed
- Know the personal protective equipment (IPD) for the health professional and the patient
- Know the concepts and targets of good behavior rules designed to prevent injuries and infections, such as: radioprotection, sterility, integration/collaboration within a team of highly specialized professionals.
- Know the characteristics and specificity of pediatric Radiology
- Know how to positioning and execution pediatric exams. Know radiation protection device for patient/operator/helper
- Know the clinical breast diagnostic and fields of application
- Know the type and exam execution of mammographic screenings

Prerequisites

- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of ionizing radiation’s physics
- Knowledge of radioprotection

- Knowledge and and execution modality of radiographic projections
- Knowledge of the analogical and digital imaging
- Knowledge and use of ionizing radiation equipment in conventional and interventional radiology
- Devices of radiation protection equipment (IPD) for the health professional and the patient
