Learning objectives
The goal of the course i to provide the students the necessary knowledge to design road infrastructures and road pavements
Prerequisites
It's recommended to have taken the course of Road construction during the bachelor
Course unit content
The course will provide the students the knowledge to do the full design of a road infrastructure: geometric layout, integration in the territory, selection and design of materials, definition and design of collateral structures and elements
Full programme
Topics faced in the course:
- geometric layout, integration in the territory (environmental constraints and anthropic constraints)
- full design of a medium service level road
- design of collateral structures and collateral elements of a road infrastructure
-techniques for embankment construction
- soil stabiliztion with lime and/or cement
- cement trated mixtures
- bitumens and bituminous emulsions for road applications
- asphalt cold recycling
- asphalt mixtures
- asphalt hot recycling
- flexible and semirigid pavements

There are no related books. The students will receive the teaching materials during the course

The course is organized with contact hours in class, a practical exercise of road design, and visit on work places
