Learning objectives
The course is part of General Medicine Teaching or integrated course of Medicine I. The course aims to enable the student to know and to understand the essential elements of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of main endocrine disrorders and to relate these disease to the internal medicine general interest, giving the students the ability to identify the clinical problems and prepare a plan of care
Prerequisites
Knowledge of physiology , general pathology
Course unit content
Edema and related diseases, volume depletion and related diseases; disionie; acute and chronic renal failure; cardiovascular risk factors; angina and myocardial infarction; acute and chronic heart failure; hypertension; arterial hypertension and syncope; acute respiratory failure (on a pneumological and cardiological basis); chronic pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma
Full programme
The course will be particularly focused on the involvement of the internal medicine in the principal endocrine disorders. This will include the physical semiotics, clinical signs and laboratory evaluation of major diseases of the hypothalamic- pituitary axis, anterior and posterior pituitary, thyroid, adrenal cortex and medulla, testes and ovary.
• Main clinical pictures will be represented by : Acromegaly, Diabetes insipidus, hyper-and hypothyroidism, goiter, thyroiditis, thyroid nodule, Cushing's disease, pheochromocytoma, Addison’s disease

Teaching methods
The course will be held through lectures to Students in the classroom (“in presenza”). If needed, course will be held in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.

Assessment methods and criteria
The exam will be written and will consist of answers to multiple questions concerning the main topics of the lectures( see below for the program).
