Learning objectives

The course aims to enable the student to know and understand the physiology and physiopathology of hematopoietic stem cells, hematopoiesis and blood diseases, as well as of the main respiratory diseases. For this purpose, the main laboratory tests will also be illustrated, in order to achieve the ability to use the knowledge acquired in identifying the patient's problems related to work activity and providing first aid.

Prerequisites

Mandatory propedeutic examinations are defined by the Course Council.

Course unit content

The lessons cover issues related to the approach to environmental pathologies, exposure to chemical, physical or biological agents and first aid interventions.

Teaching methods

Lectures with clinical examples, case simulation and movies.
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, if further instructions are not implemented.
During the lessons we will discuss the issues related to laboratory tests and their interpretation topic will be exposed, encouraging students to ask questions on the basis of references that will be provided.

Assessment methods and criteria

The final exam will aim to evaluate the communication and learning skills of the student, as well as his/her ability to judge the health status of the hypothetical patients.
Each student will be asked questions on topics listed in the extended program. The inability to answer will result in not passing the exam.
The student will be evaluated with votes ranging from 0 to 30, with 18 being the lowest vote to positively pass the exam. The final vote will be decided by mutual agreement among the teachers of the integrated course.
