Learning objectives

The course is aimed to make the students able to recognize people with mental disorders, to make an adequate project of care or to refer those with mental disorders to the department of mental health.

Course unit content

The first part of the classes will address the fundamental principles of psychopathology such as alterations of perception, thought, affect.
The second part of the classes will address the principal mental disorders such as schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The third part of the classes will address the fundamental principles of treatment of mental disorders

Full programme

- Fundamental principles of psychopathology such as alterations of consciousness, attention, memory, perception, thought, instinct, affect, volition.

- Clinical features and fundamental principles of the principal mental disorders such as:
- substance abuse disorders,
- schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders,
- mood disorders,
- anxiety disorders
- personality disorders,
- eating disorders.

- The organization of the Department of Mental Health.

Assessment methods and criteria

Non sono previste prove in itinere ma solo una prova finale.
La prova finale intende valutare quale conoscenze lo studente ha acquisito durante il corso e la sua capacità di identificare la presenza di un disturbo psichico, come programmare un progetto di cura o un invio del paziente ai servizi di salute mentale.
La prova finale prevede un esame scritto composto da 20 domande a risposta multipla sugli argomenti del programma, in particolare su quelli presentati a lezione. Il tempo a disposizione sarà di 30 minuti e la prova si intende superata se lo studente avrà risposto correttamente ad almeno 12 domande. Il voto finale sarà attribuito in proporzione al numero di domande esatte che superano la soglia di 12.
