Allow students to know the basics of research methodology, useful for consulting sources for the best scientific evidence.
Lead students to understand the value of health research tout court.
Orient students towards ways of organizing activities in the clinical health field that take into account the best and most up-to-date scientific evidence
Lay the foundations to start meditating on the methodology behind the final thesis.
Acquire basic elements of health and business economics, in particular:
- Acquire the basic concepts of economic-business analysis applied to health systems (public, private and accredited private health);
- Acquire an initial awareness of the functioning of companies and experience a first observation of company phenomena in the public and private healthcare sector - accredited private;
- Understand the specificities of the health sector
- Understand the complexity of the management and organization of healthcare companies, in light of the emerging challenges in the Italian healthcare sector.

Course unit content
The cycle of lessons explains the basics in relation to:
- research methodology in the health sector;
- quantitative research and qualitative research;
- elements for a correct reading and use of the research;
- methods of applying scientific evidence to work practice.
The course also introduces the basic concepts relating to business economics, with particular attention to the essential elements for a first orientation to health economics topics in public companies.

Teaching methods
Interactive lessons and laboratory teachingL Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
The exam will take place in oral form. The interview will be aimed at probing the understanding of the topics under study, as well as the development of dialectical, critical and comparative skills regarding the various sources.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
