Integrated course unit module: FORENSIC MEDICINE, HYGIENE AND PREVENTION

Learning objectives


To provide students with knowledge related to the general principles of hygiene and prevention, to be appied in the specific field of study and activity. To acquire a methodology of autonomous learning and autonomy of judgment regarding the topics dealt with. To acquire specific communication skills in relationships with specialists and non-specialist interlocutors.

Definition of health
History and applications of epidemiology
The sources of epidemiological data
Epidemiological measures
Ecological, cross-sectional, case-control, cohort studies and experimental studies (outlines)
Epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases
Host-parassite relationships, sources and reservoirs of infection, chain of infection.
Notification, isolation,diagnostic investigation of infectious dieseases. Cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, disinfestation
Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention
Vaccine prophylaxis, immunoprophylaxis and chemioprophylaxis.
Epidemiology and prevention of npn-ifectious diseases
Outlines of water hygiene and food hygiene

Teaching methods

Oral lessons with the use of informatic tools. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course consists of an oral examination. Through questions about the contents of the course will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content.
