COMPUTER AIDED MANUFACTURING
The course aims to study CAD / CAE / CAM (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Engineering / Computer Aided Manufacturing) technologies and systems for product design and the planning and programming of the production and manufacturing process of products. with particular reference to the products of the engineering industry.
The methodologies and techniques of three-dimensional CAD modeling of the product will be analyzed and the analysis and graphic representation of the functional and aesthetic requirements, the data structures that define the product and the production process and the problems related to the choice and application of tools advanced integrated computer systems to support product design and planning and programming of the production process and automatic machining using CNC machine tools. The integrated CAD techniques and tools for modeling and CAE for simulation and verification of the functional behavior of the product will be analyzed and the CAM tools for planning and scheduling work with reference to the problems of collaborative design and integration of processes and systems, making systematic use of application case studies of interest to the metalworking industry and to CAD / CAE / CAM systems available on the market. There will be guided exercises on the use of an exemplary commercial CAD / CAE / CAM system and the execution, using this system, of a year's work related to the CAD design of a mechanical component and to the automatic CAM programming of its machining with a machine tool. CNC; the execution and delivery of the year's work is a prerequisite to be able to take the exam. The didactic documentation and the slides relating to the topics covered in the lessons are available online. The exam consists of a written test on the topics covered in the lessons.
