Learning objectives

Acquisition of core clinical, legal and management competences in palliative cares within multiprofessional team.

Course unit content

Application of WHO definition of palliative care aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their families and caregivers, the prevention and relief of physical psychological, and emotional pain through early identification, complete evaluation and treatment of pain and other related physical, psycho-social and spiritual issues.
Acquisition of the capacity of respecting ethical, deontological and legal principles.

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students either in the classroom (“in presenza”) or in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly2020.medicina.unipr.it/).

Working groups will be adopted to improve the learning process.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
structured written test conducted remotely (by Teams and Elly). The test consists of open questions on the course contents (reference texts + documents uploaded to Elly during the course). There is no penalty for incorrect answers.
The final mark, will be directly reported on Esse3.
