1. Introduction to palliative care. Meaning and definition of palliative care. Territorial organisation of palliative care in Italy
2. How to identify palliative care needs: oncological and non-oncological palliative care
3. Main physical, psychological, spiritual and existential needs of the person in palliative care
4. The professional/patient/family relationship: communication of the diagnosis, the accompanying relationship, the family meeting
5. Professional training and competences in palliative care.
