Learning objectives

-to familiarize with the technical basis of the main imaging techniques
-to achieve the basics of conventional radiography, CT, MR, ultrasound for the main disorders
-to apply the basics and appropriateness criteria of the main tools of diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy in the clinical and surgical settings
-to read and understand a radiological report

Course unit content

Technical basis of the diagnostic imaging (conventional radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, angiography, ultrasonography), nuclear medicine and radiotherapy
-Basic knowledge of radioprotection for both radiologists and patients
-Basic knowledge of diagnostic and interventional imaging of the main disorders
-Indications and appropriateness of the diagnostic investigations

Lectures and practical sessions for small groups of students.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course objectives achievement will be verified as follows:
1) A written test after some lectures.
Questions aim to verify students knowledge and understanding of the lectures key points. The average score will be averaged with that of the final oral test
2) A final oral test based on the interpretation of clinical cases to verify if the students can apply their knowledge
