Learning objectives
At the end of the course the student will be able
- to know the basics of energy conversion in energy systems;
- to know the types and performances of the fluid machines;
- to evaluate the performance of energy systems by according to the operating parameters;
- to choose fluid machines according to the specific application.
Prerequisites
Applied thermodynamics.
Course unit content
Conventional and renewable energy sources. Thermodynamics of thermal power plants: steam plants, gas turbines and internal combustion engines. Combined power plant. Cogeneration.
Architecture, principles of operation and performance of fluid machines.
Renewable power plants.

Lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
The written examination is composed of
- an exercise;
- five tests;
- two open questions.
The exam is passed if the exercise is correct and the threshold of 4 points in the tests is overcomed.

Lecture attendances is highly recommended.
