Learning objectives

To provide the basic knowledge needed to calculate the design building heat load and to evaluate the heating and cooling system and its components.

Prerequisites

Thermodynamics and heat transfer.

Course unit content

Basic elements for the design of cooling and heating systems in buildings.

Full programme

Conduction, convective and radiative heat transfer.Transmittance U and global coefficient H. Extraflux. Psycrometrics. Glaser analysis. Design heating load. Air heating and cooling systems. Heating systems in buildings. Heat generators, heat pumps, cogeneration. System components.
