Integrated course unit module: SPORT THERAPY AND DOPING

Learning objectives

Give essential tools for mechanisms comprehention through whom physical exercise perform an essential role on promoting health, and how it is highly effective in primary and secondary prevention and therapy of non communicable diseases. Contextualize Doping as a problem of athletes health protection.

Prerequisites

Physiology and biochemistry notions.

Course unit content

Exercise presciption for prevention and care of main non communicable diseases and doping related problem.

Full programme

Student must know doping history, WADA prohibited list, national and international rule, current legislation, sanctions, controls, side and expected effects of drugs. He must be able to focus doping related problem in the present social and cultural context.
He must know positive and negative effects of exercise on healthy people and on main chronic-degenerative diseases (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular and dislipidemic diseases, tumors, aging). Sports nutrition and hydration. Supplements. Sport Therapy: what kind of physical activity prescribe (type, intensity, duration, frequency) in clinical context and how administer it.
