Learning objectives

In General Pediatrics, the student should acquire the knowledge of the following:
• Physical and functional features of the newborn
• Somatic and neuropsychiatric development of the child
• Modes and steps of feeding in newborn/ infant/children and adolescents
• Main neonatal and childhood diseases
• Therapeutic approach in neonatal respiratory distress, dehydration and fever.
• Immune prophylaxis of infectious diseases.
The student must be able to define the development psychology and its own processes

- Neonatal diseases
- Meningoencephalitis
- Fever seizures
- Headache

- Vaccinations and related diseases
- Exanthematic deseases in childhood
- Nutrition
- Type 1 diabetes
- The main neoplasms in pediatric age.
- Syncope
-Congenital and acquired cardiopathies
- Psychological development in early childhood: from 0 to 2 years; In preschool age: 3 to 6 years, in school age: 7 to 10 years and in pre-adolescence
- Pain in pediatrics: pain-related factors, assessment scales, treatment details, non-pharmacological techniques.
- Dosages and way of administration in pediatrics.
- Transfusions: physiology, legislation, component and emo control, and their management.
- Pediatric structure (logistics and legislation), worker / child relationship, operator / parent, defense mechanisms, and management of hospitalization.
- The newborn: the healthy newborn, psychomotor development,weaning, lactation, Apgar index, dietary patterns.
- Neonatal screenings.
- Breathing: physiology, nursing care to major pediatric diseases and their treatment.
- Dehydration: Symptoms and Treatment.

Teaching methods

Oral lessons with use of slides.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination with publication of the results and the possibility of refusing the vote in 1 week. Then oral examination.
The score is from 0 to 30
