Learning objectives
The course intends to provide the students with the necessary tools for the comprehension and the analysis of legal writing in English, with a focus on documents for international relations.

Course unit content
Introduction to Common Law legal language: lexical, textual and discursive aspects. Use of English in textual practices and discourse of international relations. Analysis of legal authentic texts, with a focus on international contracts. Discussion of cases.

Teaching methods
Each week, we will discuss and analyze in class legal texts of international and European law.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final exam consists in verifying the understanding of a text studied in class and and in discussion of two chapters chosen from outlined list given in the references
