Learning objectives
AIMSAbility to identify the more relevant moments and procedures for the
organization of the biomedical laboratory performing welfare activity since the
acceptation of samples to the medical report.
Prerequisites

Course unit content
Clinical Microbiology.
- General aspects of the organization of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology;
- The personnel of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: type, tasks, staff
equipment, distribution, specialization;
- The product of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: objectives, organization
in sectors, sub-sectors and sections, nomenclator, evaluation of the numerousness
and complexity of the examinations, phases of the production, workload;
- The spaces of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: type, routes,
conditioning, crowding, luminosity, acoustic pollution, safety;
- Timetable of the activities of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: activities
timetable (full-time employ, part-time employ, guard and/or promptavailability on
request), extraordinary time, leave, permission;
- The costs of the activities of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: fixed costs,
variable costs, tariffs;
- The quality in the biomedical laboratory of microbiology: internal controls, external
evaluation, evaluation of the performance, accreditation, certification;
- The request for the examinations to the biomedical laboratory of microbiology:
evaluation of the completeness of the request, evaluation of the suitability of the
sample, production of the medical report;
- Other organizational aspects of the biomedical laboratory of microbiology:
automation, robotization, waste disposal, storage of the reagents and dangerous
materials, storage of the samples; the updating and the continue training, the
professional secret, errors and damages, responsibilities, internal and external
relations.
