Learning objectives

The course aims to enable the student to know and to understand the essential elements of the methodology of nursing research, also in order to achieve the ability to use the knowledge and understanding gained in planning a literature search for the preparation of the thesis and thereafter for the conduct of a professional activity based on "Evidence-based nursing".
Learning Outcomes
The student at the end of the course, will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding about:
- The meaning of EBN
- The meaning of the scientific journal
- The meaning of quantitative research and qualitative research
- The methods of structuring of a scientific article
- The meaning of the database and how to use the most important databases
The student also, applying the knowledge and understanding acquired, must be capable of:
- Interpret the contents of a scientific article
- Finding, using keywords, scientific documentation on the databases

Teaching methods

Short lectures in small groups with the use of a PC and practical activity of research carried out by experienced researchers.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course includes a practical test of literature search using PC. Through the analysis of the student's ability to perform a literature search on the themes proposed by the examiners will be determined whether the student has achieved the aim of applying the acquired knowledge.
