Learning objectives
To allow students to learn and understand the basic instruments and the methods to concretely elaborate and use the principal concepts of hygiene, occupational health and clinical pathology to prevent communicable and non-communicable diseases , health-related diseases and to evaluate their own professional activities from a legal and normative perspective.
In addition, the student, applying the acquired knowledge and understanding, should be able to –alone and in collaboration with other health professionals to:
-Contribute to prevent infective complications of patients health facilities are in charge of;
-Avoid physical risks related to professional activities;
-Interpret basic laboratory analysis to correctly assess radiologic exams that require contrast agent;
-Align his behaviors to the norms of professional deontology

Hygiene
General concepts of hygiene, health; History and application of epidemiology Descriptive epidemiological measures; Epidemiological risk measures, cause-effect interpretation Ecological studies, cohort studies, case-control studies
Experimental studies and prevention studies.
Different types of prevention (primary, secondary, tertiary prevention)
Screening: theoretical concepts and their application in Italian Health System
Epidemiology of general prevention of infectious diseases -Host-guest relationship, infection sources and reservoirs, transmission mode ; Notification, default measures, diagnosis of infectious diseases. Sterilization, disinfection and disinfestations
Vaccine prevention. Types of vaccines, strategies and vaccine schedules, passive immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis
Epidemiology and specific prevention of infectious diseases a) Epidemiology and prevention of airborne diseases;Epidemiology and prevention of sexually transmitted disease and parenteral transmission-Epidemiology and prevention of foecal-oral transmitted diseases.-pidemiology and prevention of vertical-transmitted diseases- Epidemiology and prevention of nosocomial infections -Environment and Health-water hygiene: water, supply and safety- Air: atmospheric pollution: health effects
