Learning objectives

The course aims to provide students with the tools necessary to understand the organization for the care of patients with chronic alterations of its homeostasis, allowing the student to know and to understand the essential elements of physiology and pathophysiology of aging, etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of major geriatric syndromes, as well as elements of alteration postural rehabilitation and also in order to allow the student the ability to use the knowledge and understanding gained in identifying the patient's problems related to the condition of the person suffering from chronic disease and to prepare an appropriate care plan.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The student at the end of the course, even using the knowledge acquired in previous years of the course, will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding about:
- Organizational and management issues addressed above all to the territorial
- Theoretical models of nursing outpatient
- Reference models of nursing family
- Reference models of nursing transcultural
- Nursing of palliation
- The pathophysiologic phenomena that are the basis of events associated with aging
- The most frequent complications that can meet the elderly patient
- The causes and consequences of major geriatric syndromes of interest
- Analysis of movimentoin normal conditions
- Motion analysis in pathological conditions
The student also applying the knowledge and understanding acquired, shall be able, even collaborating with other professionals, to
- Contribute to the prevention of complications that can meet the elderly patient
- Contribute to the prevention of complications of postural errors
- Identify the problems related to the disease geriatric from which the patient is suffering
- Prepare a care plan appropriate to the condition of the patient affected by chronic disease

Course unit content

The chronicity of the nursing course includes three modules that address different aspects of patient affected by chronic diseases, with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of aging. It covers both organizational and management issues facing especially the territorial organization with an analysis of theoretical models of organizational aspects and current issues related to the changes in contemporary society such as the phenomenon of migration. It covers legal issues and ethics, and discusses topics such as the physiology and pathophysiology of aging, the most
common chronic geriatric diseases. The module addresses the issue of rehabilitation techniques of posture, transport of patients with disabilities and postural rehabilitation

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course consists of an oral examination. Through questions about the contents of the course will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content. Through questions regarding prevention strategies and preparation of a care plan will be determined whether the student has achieved the aim of applying the acquired knowledge
