Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to improve students' ability to communicate an architectural project, through the elaboration of three-dimensional models developed using BIM methodology and project drawings aimed at its communication from a dimensional, formal and technical point of view.
Knowledge
At the end of the course, the student will possess the knowledge necessary for correct and complete communication of the built object, using both two-dimensional and three-dimensional representation.
The course aims to provide knowledge of the tools and procedures for the graphic representation of the executive project based on the BIM methodology.
Skills
The skills acquired will concern the ability to appropriately use the tools and techniques suitable for the description and communication of the architectural project developed in the BIM environment.
Independence of judgment
At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify the most appropriate methods and techniques of representation in the graphic communication of the executive architectural project, created in a BIM environment.
Communication skills
Students will develop the ability to describe and communicate architecture at various scales through the application of knowledge of advanced digital representation techniques in the BIM environment.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to have in-depth knowledge of CAD software. Students are expected to have in-depth knowledge of CAD software.
Course unit content
The course addresses the topic of project representation developed using BIM methodology, both from the architectural and executive project representation point of view.
At the end of the course and in response to the topics covered, it will be required to develop a project involving the application of the concepts learned in relation to the principles of representing a building project.
All information on the assigned topic and guidelines will be provided during the course.
The course of Building Information Modeling is divided in 2 modules:
- Digital Modeling of Architecture (4 CFU);
- Digital Visualization of Project (4 CFU).
Please refer to the corresponding field for each module of the course.

Teaching methods
The lessons will take place in the classroom, with a series of frontal lectures in which digital presentations will be projected.
Several revisions are scheduled also during the course. The final project will be periodically discussed and reviewed in order to assess progress and solve any issues.
The teaching materials used during the lessons will be made available on Elly platform.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of learning will be carried out during the course, through the evaluation of project progress (mandatory review dates will be established).
The final assessment of learning consists in a discussion of the course topics and evaluation of the final project documented by graphic drawings produced by the student.
The verification will be so modulated:
Respect of assigned deadlines: 5%;
Explanation of theoretical aspects (knowledge): 45%;
Graphic applications (skills): 40%;
Autonomous choice of representation methods (independence of judgment): 10%.
