Integrated course unit module: NURSING AND OBSTETRICS MANAGEMENT

Learning objectives

Understand the organizational and professional logics that guide the choices of the manager of the healthcare professions in relation to the complexity of care, the development paths, the context and the expected quality of the professionals involved.
Knowing how to apply knowledge to the professional experience relating to the position occupied by the manager of the healthcare professions within the different settings.

Prerequisites

The exam can be taken only after passing the "Health Management" and "Legal aspects of the role of Manager" exams

Course unit content

The module is carried out through the analysis of processes relating to nursing and midwifery care with particular reference to issues relating to professional skills, organizational developments in hospital and local areas, the evolution of professions and different levels of responsibility within of healthcare companies.
In-depth analysis of specific professional policy issues.

Full programme

The description of the context in which the care functions are exercised, with particular reference to the regional system, and the different levels of responsibility of the professionals (operational core, middle management and management).
The presentation of the essential characteristics in the organization of care management and any representative models (types of assignment).
Insights into the main functions regarding personnel management with particular reference to contractual regulations.
Discussion of the skills model and the magnet hospital model.
Professional policy topics and topics regarding the existence of nursing and midwifery care.
Presentation and sharing of professional models with particular reference to the "primary nursing" model.
Representation of the main organizational needs with particular reference to the need for integration and cooperation.

Assessment methods and criteria

The learning and level of preparation achieved is mainly verified through an oral exam, without excluding the possibility of taking a written test. The student must demonstrate that he has acquired adequate knowledge for the role he will cover.

Guided study both drawing on bibliographic information and individually suggested and agreed with the teacher.
