Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to provide theoretical and practical skills in the development of mathematical models for analysing the impact of agricultural and agri-environmental policies at farm and territory level.

Prerequisites

Course unit content

The course focuses on three main aspects:
- agri-environmental policies and the need for ex-ante evaluation
- The theory of mathematical programming
- The development of mathematical programming models using commercially available software: excel and GAMS

Full programme

The course consists of the following points:
- agri-environmental policies and the need for ex-ante evaluation: reading and commenting on scientific articles in class
- The theory of mathematical programming: lecture and exercises on the development of Primary and Dual models
- The development of mathematical programming models using commercially available software. Analysis of problems, writing models in Excel and GAMS and understanding the results.
