Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to allow the student to achieve the main instruments in
order to describe animal structure and function and to know the main animal taxa.
Prerequisites
Elementary concepts of Biology usually acquired in secondary school courses.
Course unit content
The aim of this course is, after the introduction to the origin of life, to examine the
cell and the main functional systems of animals. The second part concerns the
survival strategies of animal species. In particular, the main topics are the
reproduction, the evolution and the animal behaviour. The last part concerns the
diversity of animal kingdom, from invertebrates to vertebrates.
