Access requirements
For students holding a first-cycle degree in Mathematics (Class 32 Mathematical Sciences, D.M. 509/99, Class L-35 Mathematics D.M. 270/04) at the University of Parma, admission to the degree course is automatic.
For students holding a first-cycle degree in Mathematics (Class 32 Mathematical Sciences, D.M. 509/99, Class L-35 Mathematics D.M. 270/04), obtained at another university, a good knowledge of English is required. In the presence of a B2-level aptitude certificate, admission to the degree course is automatic. In the event that the student does not have this linguistic aptitude, the Teaching Committee) or an appropriate committee appointed by the Unified Course Council of the Mathematics Degree Course and the Mathematics Degree Course will provide for an additional interview to verify the student's language skills.
In the case of students coming from degree courses other than the first-cycle degree course in Mathematics (Class 32 Mathematical Sciences, D.M. 509/99, Class L-35 Mathematics D.M. 270/04), the Teaching Committee or an appropriate committee appointed by the Unified Course Council of the Mathematics degree course and the Mathematics second-cycle degree course verifies the possession of the curricular requirements for enrolment in the Mathematics second-cycle degree course. In the event of a positive outcome of this check, the Committee verifies the student's personal preparation, identifies any gaps and suggests appropriate educational materials to remedy them. Subsequently, through a face-to-face interview with the student prior to enrolment in the degree course, it verifies that he/she has filled these gaps. In the event of a positive outcome of the interview, the Teaching Committee then identifies customised study curricula, always in compliance with the current regulations, to fill in the gaps; all this in any case guarantees the achievement of the degree course's learning objectives and the awarding of the qualification with 120 ECTS credits, without additional training activities.
