Learning objectives

OBEITTIVI FORMATIVI

Knowledge and capacity for understanding: the goal is acquiring a basic knowledge of the broad field of applied theatres. By following this course, the students may acquire the capacity of identifying the specific apport of theatrical and performative practices to designing and coordination of social services

Prerequisites

None. Erasmus students and studenti non frequentanti are invited to enrol on the ELLY platform and to write via e-mail to the teacher to establish the program for the exam

Course unit content

The course introduces to theatre for social intervantion, to its history and development in Italy and abroad, to its present, scenarios and methodologies. How and why the embodied and relational art of theatre has become a tool for social intervention in so many areas of our society, from education to the hospitals, from prisons to the policies for inclusion of migrants and policies for empowerment of any group of people 'at the margins'? When and how it is good to apply theatre to social projects? We are going to taske in consideration the broad spectrum of methodologies, form Teatro dell'Oppresso to applied theatre, from the field of Education- Entertainment to that of so called "social theatre" and "community theatre" and some case studied will be discussed also thanks to the encounter with a few theatre operators working in these areas.

the examination is oral. The professor will e valuate how the students have assimilated the specific lexicon, the themes afforded, the questions discussed in class, and through bibliography
