Integrated course unit module: Human anatomy

Learning objectives

1st LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to know the structure of the musculoskeletal apparatus in its macro- and microscopic aspects, in a clinical perspective, with a special focus on head and neck region.
2nd LEARNING ENPOINT; the student is expected to be able to describe shape, position, relationship, function, vascularization and innervation of the different components of the musculoskeletal apparatus. The student is supposed to be able to identify individual morphological diversities providing a methodological approach preparatory to the clinical reasoning
3rd LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to be able to develop an anatomical-based thinking and to possess autonomous judgement on the correlation between structure and function.
4th LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to master an anatomical language

Course unit content

In the first part of the course basic aspects on the locomotor apparatus will be discussed: joints classification and skeleton. The second part of the course will be dedicated to the skull (inner and outer surface and features of each bone). In particular some lessons will focus on the temporomandibular joint (gross, microscopic and functional anatomy).

Full programme

The locomotor apparatus: Joints classification. Skull: inner and outer surface, features of each bone. Temporomandibular joint: gross, microscopic and functional anatomy. Masticatory muscles and mandible movements. Facial muscles. Cranial development. Main cranial points, lines and planes employed in anthropometry. General features of the vertebral column, the ribcage, the pelvic girdle, the limbs and muscles of relevance.

Teaching methods

Oral interactive lessons, supported by iconographic material. Direct experience on anatomical models.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course consists of a written test (multiple choice questions on the contents of the course, aimed to determine whether the student has achieved the learning objectives).
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely with written test, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/) and ELLY educational portal.
Students with SLD / BSE must first contact Le Eli-che: support for students with disabilities, D.S.A., B.E.S. (https://sea.unipr.it/it/servizi/le-eli-che-supporto-studenti-con-disabilita-dsa-bes)
