Learning objectives
The course aims to give the students a basic knowledge of the elements of crime and of the criminal procedure. The course also aims to analize the main health and safety crimes.

Course unit content
The part of the course concerning "Istituzioni di Diritto e procedura penale", in its first part, aims to give the students a basic knowledge of the elements of criminal law and of the criminal procedure, in order to give the students the instruments to comprehend the activity of a judicial police officer, as well as the main health and safety crimes.
During the course will be shortly analized the criminal liability of the companies ruled by d.l.vo n. 231/2001, concerning also the most serious accindents at work; it will be also mentioned the new institution of “Prescrizione” introduced in Law 283/1962 with the “Riforma Cartabia”, for contraventions in the field of hygiene, production and sale of food and drinks.
Then, the main topics related to D.l.vo n. 81/2008 on hygiene and safety at work will be taken in consideration with particular attention to the subjects involved, to the prevention and supervision tools and to the definitions by law, essential for understanding the related criminal offences.
Contextually, the contents of D.l.vo n. 758/1994 will be briefly analysed.

Teaching methods
Oral lessons concerning the main topics of the course and on some acts and professional forms, with attention to the practice and relevant cases of law.
Assessment methods and criteria
The pre-appel si a written examination to be made at the end of the course.
Written exam has four open questions (the answer has to be made in 5 lines max) and five multiple choise questions.
