Learning objectives
The objective is to allow the student to know and understand the essential elements of a legal and medical legal nature inherent to the professional activity of preventive health technician in the environment and in the workplace, in order to allow the student the ability to use the knowledge and understanding acquired to evaluate one's professional activity from a normative-juridical point of view with specific reference to the repercussions in the criminal, civil and special laws fields.

Course unit content
The cycle of lessons provides the basic notions relating to the medico-legal aspects of the profession of health technician of prevention in the environment and in the workplace. After the essential notions of criminal law, the main crimes connected with health care are examined, discussing not only the general principles but also the doctrinal and jurisprudential examples. From these premises, the topics strictly related to the exercise of the profession are analyzed, in their legal and medico-legal meaning, to the point of presenting and deepening the issue of professional health responsibility and occupational protection.

Legal system, sources of rules, criminal law general and special part: crimes against life and against individual safety, report and complaint to the judicial authority, professional secrecy, official secrecy, refusal of official acts, ideological and material falsehood. Criminal protection of health through food control: code cases and art. 5, Law 283 of 1962.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of the achievement of the objectives envisaged by the teaching involves a final assessment by means of an oral exam. Students with SLD/BSE must first contact the University Reception and Inclusion Centre (cai@unipr.it).
