Learning objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge about the architecture, organization, configuration, and administration of computing systems, with a focus on the tools commonly used for their implementation and management, as well as the primary security systems.

Throughout the course, we will also examine the major virtualization systems, packaging, orchestration, and application distribution (Docker and Kubernetes).

Prerequisites

It is assumed that the student has familiarity with Windows and Linux environments and a basic knowledge of scripting languages.

Course unit content

LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM MANAGEMENT:

User account management and file and directory permissions for Unix file systems.
Command-line tools, configuration, definition, and monitoring of processes and resources.
Management of standard system services.
Bash scripting.
Network Management:
Firewall.
Activity monitoring.
Service Management:
Web/Apache.

Introduction to Data Center Virtualization and Cloud Management and Orchestration Systems

In this part, we will explore the fundamentals of data center virtualization and delve into the key management and orchestration systems that drive the efficiency and flexibility of modern IT infrastructures. Additionally, we will provide an overview of the major approaches used in the cloud for both infrastructure and application services

DOCKER:
Management of applications in containers.
Docker:

Basic concepts.
Docker image creation.
Managing multi-container systems using Docker Compose.
KUBERNETES:
Introduction to Kubernetes for container orchestration.

Infrastructure overview.
Workload in Kubernetes.
Examples.
