Learning objectives
The integrated course aims to illustrate to students the functioning of the auditory system and how it processes acoustic sensory information, sounds and language.
The course will allow the student to know and understand (first Dublin descriptor) the basic mechanisms underlying the processing of sensory information and the basic functioning of hearing aids and cochlear implants. The course aims to allow the student to apply the acquired knowledge and comprehension to the field of his/her future professional activity (2nd Dublin descriptor). Students should be able to independently cope with simple physiological problems (third Dublin descriptor), and be able to communicate the acquired knowledge. (4th Dublin descriptor).

Teaching methods
The lectures will take place in telepresence through the use of the platforms Teams and Elly. In particular, lessons will be conducted in both synchronous mode (connecting to the Teams platform) and asynchronous (uploaded on the Elly page of the course). During the lessons in synchronous (direct) mode, mainly frontal moments will alternate with interactive moments with the students. During the lessons, the principles of physiology will be explained and the main topics will be addressed with appropriate practical examples. During the lesson the students will be stimulated by the teacher to ask questions and comments both in synchronous mode (via microphone or chat) and in asynchronous mode via Elly.
Assessment methods and criteria
The achievement of the objectives of the course will be verified by an oral examination. Questions about the content of the course will verify if the student has achieved the objective of knowledge and understanding of the content of the course and if he/she has achieved the also the goal of applying the acquired knowledge.
To take the exam it will be essential to connect to Teams platform and it will be necessary, throughout the examination, keep on the audio/ video connections. Before each exam, after the expiring of the dead line for registration, all students will receive an email by Essetre, with the necessary instructions for connecting to the link of Teams.
