Learning objectives

1 LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to know the structure of head and neck regions (limits, position, content, organ relationships), In a clinical/surgical perspective.
2 LEARNING ENPOINT; the student is expected to be able to describe the structure of head and neck regions The student is supposed to be able to utilized his/her anatomical bases to identify the different structures of a region in a clinical oriented manner.
3 LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to be able to develop an anatomical-based thinking
4 LEARNING ENPOINT: the student is expected to master an anatomical language

Prerequisites

Human anatomy and Histology

Course unit content

Classes will be focused on Human Topographical Anatomy of the Head
and Neck, with an emphasis on anatomical region of special interest for clinical and surgical implications

Full programme

Introduction to human topographical anatomy. Fascia. Cranial and facial
region, lateral aspect of the head, temporal and infratemporal region,
pterygopalatine
fossa, orbital region, nasal region, mental region, buccal region, oral
region, oropharynx space, parotid and submandibular region, regions of
the neck (neck triangles), supra and infrahyoid neck spaces.

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students by synchronous-streaming on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly2020.medicina.unipr.it).
Slides will be available for Dental
Students only (“5027 - ODONTOIATRIA E PROTESI DENTARIA”).

Assessment methods and criteria

The achievement of the above described learning objectives will be verified by a quiz with multiple choice questions and/or anatomical images to label. The student is expected to answer correctly to half plus 1 of the questions to pass the exam.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the written exam will be conducted remotely through the Elly and Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
