Learning objectives
Achieve the fundamental knowledge on the physiology of the CNS and its ability to recognize clinically relevant signs and symptoms of the most important and common neurological diseases.
Prerequisites
Histological and anatomical bases of the nervous system.
Course unit content
Headaches (migraine headaches, cluster headache, trigeminal neuralgia, post-herpetic pain)
Epilepsy and status epilepticus (causes and therapies).
Demyelinating diseases.
Neurodegenerative diseases.
Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism.
Cranial nerves and related diseases.
Cerebral cerebral vasculopathies. (stroke): etiology, risk factors, and specific treatments.
Pathologies of the I and II motoneurone (pyramidal syndrome).
Cephalorachidian liquid.
Neuro-muscular plaque and peripheral nerve pathologies.
Elements of neurotraumatology.
