Integrated course unit module: HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY AND THE VISUAL SYSTEM

Learning objectives

The main goal of this course is to let the student know and understand, through theorical as well as practical sessions, the principles of the physiology of the human eye.
Comprehensive knowledge of these basic mechanisms will allow the students to study the physiology of the whole visual system.
Upon completion of the course the students will have adequate knowledge and understanding of the basic physiology of the human eye.

Teaching methods

Lectures will present the main topics of the course promoting discussion with students, and will be complemented with hands-on sessions, so that every student will have an opportunity to face various clinical situations using the most relevant diagnostic instruments.

Assessment methods and criteria

Completion of the goals in this course module will be verified in the main course examination.
By means of more basic questions knowledge and understanding will be tested. Other questions will examine the ability to apply such knowledge to the clinical setting
