Learning objectives
The course aims to improve the approach to the patient during surgery. In particular, the student will be able to apply the different biopsy techniques and the removal of small oral lesions, performed with different tools on freshly prepared samples and on the patient, with the guide of a tutor. To improve the histopathological characteristics of the main pathologies of the oro-maxillo-facial region.

Course unit content
To know and understand the importance of a proper examination of the oral cavity, the completion of the medical record and a correct approach to the patient. Being able to prescribe, using the correct procedures, blood, radiological and histological tests.

mucosal biopsies prepared with different laser wavelengths, traditional scalpel, molecular quantic resonance scalpel.
Removal of fibropapillomas.
Tutorials on samples of bone tissue and / or mucous ex vivo.
Cavity preparations on extracted teeth with different laser wavelengths.
histopathological tutorials of histological samples of diseases of the oral mucosa, salivary glands and bone.

Assessment methods and criteria
Discussion of clinical cases during the course and final oral examination in order to ensure the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course content and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice. The trial will also evaluate the quality of student participation during the Course.
