Internships

The University of Parma promotes curricular placements in order to facilitate professional choices through direct knowledge of the world of work and study-work alternation experiences.
The curricular placement integrates and completes the student's curriculum through the performance of practical activities which, on the basis of the provisions of their respective degree course regulations, may be carried out in structures within the University or externally at qualified public and private bodies with which the University has entered into appropriate agreements.
The placement involves three parties: the student, the promoter (the University of Parma) and the host (company or organisation) where the activity is carried out under the guidance of a university tutor, a University professor/instructor and a company supervisor.
Curricular placement are not a prerequisite for an employment relationship between the student and the host structure, nor can they be a substitute for company labour or professional services.

Che cosa sono

The professional placement is a training activity in which the student works alongside an experienced professional in specific healthcare contexts in order to learn the skills required for the professional role.
Placement learning takes place through practical experimentation, integration of theoretical-disciplinary knowledge with professional and organisational practice, and contact with members of the specific professional group.
The relevance assigned to placement experiences increases over the three years.
The Clinical Tutors from the institutions at which students attend training placements are in contact with the Director of Professionalising Teaching Activities and the Academic Tutor, to whom they periodically report on the level of training achieved by the students, by means of Evaluation Sheets.
At the end of each placement, the evaluation of the contracted organisation is collected and the outcome of this is stored in each student's file.
The training experiences carried out at these institutions during the course foster the employability of graduates by enriching their professionalism in the field of rehabilitation of patients with neurological impairments, visual impairments and amblyopia who are of pre-school age.
Upon graduation, the student will be awarded a 'Transcript of Clinical Experience' certificate summarising the professional placement activity performed.

The total number of placement hours to be completed over the three years of the course is 1,500, divided as follows:
1st year of the course: Placement 1 (11 ECTS, 275 hours) Year 2 Placement 2 (24 ECTS credits, 600 hours) Year 3: Placement 3 (25 ECTS credits, 630 hours) 1 ECTS credits = 25 hours
