Employment opportunities

Although there is no precise professional order for Mathematicians, there can be several employment opportunities for graduates in Mathematics:

  • in the field of research, in companies and industry;
  • in laboratories and research centres;
  • in the field of dissemination of scientific culture;
  • in the service sector and in public administration, with various fields of interest including IT, finance.

More generally, graduates of the second-cycle degree in Mathematics are valued in all areas where mental flexibility is required, the ability to adapt to new situations, a good familiarity with data management, analysis and processing.

Graduates of the second-cycle degree in Science in Mathematics will also have access to Professional Master programmes (second level) and PhD programmes.

It is worth noting the excellent data on the employment rate (ISTAT def.) within one year of graduation (data source: www.almalaurea.it):
2014: 88.90%
2015: 100%
2019: 100%
2020: 80%

The figure is not available on the Almalaurea website for the years 2016-2018. The data compiled by the Academic Office of the Maths Complex confirm the high employment rate.
